<div style="text-align: left;">
Well, I'm a little confused about this book. After <i>Crown of Midnight</i> I was all about this series. I was exctied to read the third book. I WAS READY...and then I was disappointed. It isn't that this book is bad. It's not. It's decently entertaining. It expanded on the universe which is something I felt the series needed. However, I still felt like Celanea was very isolated AGAIN. She's primarily confined to one location throughout the entire book. Her training seems to drag on forever. AND this book made Chaol such a bore. Without Celaena around he definitely loses his appeal. Don't get me started on Dorian. I honestly don't understand why he would want to keep his magic contained. He obviously needs the power to help defeat his father. If anything I would think he'd want to gain control of it and then learn how to grow in strength. I understand that he's scared people will find out because it's illegal to have magic, but just practice in secret.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIHRrysMODminOc5K5RUFQ3Nr44i4oZKsb3vaZSpanJVNz2goCZ7T-oscB6SKlJm86TGBgd2pSCSsDUM_ta7GHGKMQoPX2wC7kEF2SkF9-UJ18No6rMJKSWkmfR0VT1_yYEDwmE_PKIrtR/s1600/obviously.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="192" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIHRrysMODminOc5K5RUFQ3Nr44i4oZKsb3vaZSpanJVNz2goCZ7T-oscB6SKlJm86TGBgd2pSCSsDUM_ta7GHGKMQoPX2wC7kEF2SkF9-UJ18No6rMJKSWkmfR0VT1_yYEDwmE_PKIrtR/s320/obviously.gif" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Chaol and Dorian's part of the books honestly don't get interesting until the very end when there is a big OMG moment. That was an OMG moment!! So at least there's that, right? Another aspect of the book that I don't think needed as much attention is the whole Minon Blackbeak and witches clan. I honestly didn't need to know so much about her training her beast. Just get on with it.<br />
<br />
I know it sounds like I'm harping on the book. I just feel like a lot of the story didn't help move the plot along. It felt stagnant. However, I DID enjoy quite a few things. I loved meeting the other demi-fey. They were all pretty adorable. I enjoyed learning more about Celaena's tragic childhood. Annnd that's about it. I'm still looking forward to the next book which just came out. I have some other things I want to read before I start it though. </div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
Well, if you weren't a fan of this series before this book (which you're insane if you weren't) then this is the book that will make you a believer. This book is just...so sad and tragic. Every single person in this story has something tragic happen to them and you know it's not going to stop any time soon. There are a LOT of deaths in this book. Martin just keeps them coming like a bully's punch on the playground. I'm not even worried about spoiling this series because if you don't know who dies in this book because you don't watch the television show then that <i>ain't</i> my fault. </div>

You have to take a breather for a while after so many favorite characters die back to back. It's a lot to take in if you're an emotional reader like I am. I'm getting emotional just writing about it. All I want is for the Starks to be reunited and live happily ever after. But that's OBVIOUSLY not going to happen. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwVs2Z9UtPtFpaCGuQg0eMjq1thhQ11T9pS3EGpTQfS-GMgR6jZP_DNepeNZbYwfSz7nyq7dvlmgg1Da33JBJ-Z6a39FMZrd_n6mohSwETxRNUKVW12q0eYovdHeVLrLrbX4isyFJZixF4/s1600/notfair.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="179" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwVs2Z9UtPtFpaCGuQg0eMjq1thhQ11T9pS3EGpTQfS-GMgR6jZP_DNepeNZbYwfSz7nyq7dvlmgg1Da33JBJ-Z6a39FMZrd_n6mohSwETxRNUKVW12q0eYovdHeVLrLrbX4isyFJZixF4/s320/notfair.gif" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Enough about everyone dying. There's more to this book than that. The POVs in this book are Arya Stark, Sansa Stark, Jon Snow, Jamie Lannister, Davos Seaworth. Daenerys Targaryan, Catelyn Stark, Bran Stark, and Tyrion Lannister. I honestly don't really care for Davos, Jon, or Sam's POV. I find them pretty boring. I understand that they're important to the story but I couldn't help but groan when I saw their names pop up at the beginning of a chapter. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Reasons to love Arya: Girl has been through some shit but she's learning to take care of herself. I love her interaction with The Hound. He has a strange appreciation for the Stark girls that I don't quite understand but it's endearing. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Reasons to love Sansa: She doesn't believe in fairytales or noble songs anymore. I think Sansa is the character who has grown the most in the series so far. She used to be such an annoying, naive little girl. But after everything that has happened to her she's not. She does what she has to do to survive, but she also spits out little pieces of rebellion here and there. I know a lot of people find her boring, but I think she's fascinating. I also think she'll outlive all the other Stark children.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Reasons to love Jamie: Well, he's definitely hard to love. He's arrogant, rude, and he's screwing his sister. But through his POV you really do start to like him. It's actually kind of annoying. And he has this weird sense of loyalty. He saves Brienne of Tarth from a pit with a bear. Don't do things like that Jamie! I'm supposed to hate you.<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And I don't think I really need to list the reasons to love Tyrion. He's just amazing and everything that happens to him is heartbreaking in its own right. Ugh, you guys. There's just so much that happens in this book. SO MUCH STUFF. Danerys builds her army and becomes a badass...kicks out Mormont..Theon becomes a complete dick. It's just one thing after the other. How do people review these books? SO much happens that writing a review is impossible. I just can't. </div>

<center style="text-align: left;">
I'll be honest, for the first half of the book I wasn't <i>super </i>invested. It focuses on Chaol and Celaena's relationship. I just floated along with the story not worrying too much about where it was going. However, I did enjoy seeing more of the city with Celaena. I complained about the first book being so secluded to the castle. It was nice to get out of the glass castle while she was on her assassination missions. But this was only mildly intriguing. However, once I passed the halfway mark in the book everything changed. It's as if Maas lit a fire under her ass. It was fast paced, interesting, fun, and full of adventure. I love the combination of magic, mythical creatures, mad kings, and hidden riddles. That was my favorite part of the entire book - the sense of adventure. </center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
<i><br /></i></center>
<center style="text-align: left;">
After finishing the book, I am confident to say<i> Crown of Midnight</i> is a great successor to <i>Throne of Glass</i>. Yes, the first half drags a little because it focuses on Chaol and Celaena's romance, but the second half makes up for it with great adventure and an epic ending. Also, Some of the questions I had from the first book were answered. You find out more about Celaena's mysterious past and where her family comes from. Additionally, the second half of the book was also pretty emotional. The first half was so focused on the love between Chaol and Celaena that when <div id="spoiler" style="display: none;">
Nehemia</div>
<button onclick="if(document.getElementById('spoiler') .style.display=='none') {document.getElementById('spoiler') .style.display=''}else{document.getElementById('spoiler') .style.display='none'}" title="Click to show/hide content" type="button">Show/hide</button>
dies that trust is shattered and, even though I don't care much about the romance, it did hurt a little because the author spent so much of the book building their relationship. It tugged at my stone cold heart just a little. I loved the ending of this book so much. It was vivid and I reread it about two/three times (you know which scene I'm talking about if you've read the book). The only real negative I have about this book is that it's fairly predictable. Nothing happened that shocked me. Things happened when I assumed the would. Even so, I still enjoyed this book a lot and I am already on to the third book. Let me know if you've read the book in the comments section! </center>

Rebelling against her father’s films of passion, intrigue, and spirits from beyond, Severin starts making documentaries, traveling through space and investigating the levitator cults of Neptune and the lawless saloons of Mars. For this is not our solar system, but one drawn from classic science fiction in which all the planets are inhabited and we travel through space on beautiful rockets. Severin is a realist in a fantastic universe.<br /><br />But her latest film, which investigates the disappearance of a diving colony on a watery Venus populated by island-sized alien creatures, will be her last. Though her crew limps home to earth and her story is preserved by the colony’s last survivor, Severin will never return.<br /><br />Aesthetically recalling A Trip to the Moon and House of Leaves, and told using techniques from reality TV, classic film, gossip magazines, and meta-fictional narrative, Radiance is a solar system-spanning story of love, exploration, family, loss, quantum physics, and silent film.</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13.8000001907349px; line-height: 19.3199996948242px;"> </span></i></center>

Sooo yeah, if you don't know who Felicia Day is then you've been living under a rock. I'm such a big fan. If I see her on any youtube video, comic-con panel, television show (Supernatural yay!) I have to watch it. I think she is so smart, funny, and relateable. If you haven't seen her original series The Guild then check it out on Netflix. She's pretty much my hero. If you're into romance books you should join her bookclub Vaginal Fantasy on Goodreads. Both her and her friends are hilarious in that bookclub.<br />
<br />
Seriously, I'm like obsessed with her. *sigh* Fangirl life forever. I preordered h34 book as soon as she announced it so yeah...yay! </div>

I have heard great things about Rainbow Rowell's books. I haven' read any but I plan on changing that soon. The younger crowd seems to have responded extremely well to her stories. </center>

I would absolutely DIE for an ARC copy of <i>Doors of Stone (The Kingkiller Chronicle #3) </i>by Patrick Rothfuss. It is torture waiting for the last book to finally be released. There's not even a release date yet! It's been four years since the last book was released. I couldn't even upload a cover of the book BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ONE!!!!! GRRRRRR!!! </center>

If you haven't read this series then you should head to your local bookstore and start reading. The books are long, but worth it! I'll have to reread the first two book again when the third comes out. I'm not complaining...only just a little bit. Oh, by the way, if this is your first time visiting my page then go ahead and leave me a comment! I'm most active on Twitter and Goodreads, but feel free to add me on any of my social media sites. As always, thanks for stopping by my fellow book nerds.</center>

Her name is Celaena Sardothien. </span><br style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13.8000001907349px; line-height: 19.3199996948242px; text-align: left;" /><span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 13.8000001907349px; line-height: 19.3199996948242px; text-align: left;">The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass--and it's there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena's fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.</span></i></blockquote>
<br />
Like many book readers, I've seen the cover of this book at Barnes and Noble and online everywhere. It looked interesting to me, but for some reason I avoided it like the plague. I'm glad I gave it a chance though.<br />
<br />
As the protagonist of the story, Celanea is strong, funny at times, and definitely sassy. I know this book is a somewhat retelling of the Cinderella story, but she reminded me of Black Widow more than Cinderella. She's the best assassin in all of Adarlan. She started training as an assassin at a very young age and there's a lot of mystery about her upbringing. She was a slave in the salt mines for a year and then chosen by Prince Dorian to compete in a tournament to be the King's Champion - the very man who conquered her land and lead to the death of her parents. (Yes, he's a big jerk). But if she wins she would have her freedom in four years. But that means being the king's minion and doing whatever he says for four years...0_o<br />
<br />
The book starts off strong. I love the back and forth between Dorian and Celaena. However, I must say that I am team Chaol Westfall (Captain of the Guard). Maas does a great job with Celaena's personality. She doesn't seem like someone you would want to mess with. However, she does have a vulnerable side which you get to see later in the book. For some reason, I just can't imagine her as an assassin though. I think it's because there isn't enough detail about her training as an assassin or about her time before she was a slave. I need more detail. You say she's a great assassin - don't just tell me. Show me! I need flashbacks...legends...anything! There isn't much worldbuilding. As a huge fantasy fan, I expect a certain amount of worldbuilding. I know, it's a young adult novel, but I still expect more! There is a good amount of religion (I'm assuming based off of the roman/greek gods) and magic. I want to know more about them! This is probably my main complaint.<br />
<br />
I think this series has a lot of potential. I enjoyed reading it and would definitely recommend it for readers who aren't into super detailed and long fantasy books. Plus, there's the love triangle teens are sure to love! Add a little more history to the world and I'll be extremely happy. I enjoyed the first book enough that I have already started on the second. Hopefully it'll be just as good if not better!<br />

<br />
Well, it's over you guys. I have finished this bestselling series. So, what do I think? Complete crap? Genius? More like somewhere in between. <i>Mockingjay</i> started off slow. After the heart pounding action of <i>Catching Fire</i> I was ready to see this rebellion take off. It didn't. Katniss spent most of her time sulking and worrying about Peeta. It's not that there wasn't enough action in the beginning. It just felt like the plot was moving too slowly. Everything felt a litte more dull and I'm sure it's because Katniss's emotions were so bipolar. She was erratic at times, but mostly numb. I understand she's been through a lot, but this much back and forth between emotions was a little draining on me as a reader. It also made the storyline feel a little unfocused as well.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I almost thought this book was going to be a dud. I was starting to lose interest fast. Then they went to the Capitol. That's when I really started to get into it. I thought the last part of the book was great...filled with action and emotion. It saved the book in my opinion. I enjoyed the new setting in the Capitol as well as the new traps. I wasn't sure who was going to make it out alive and appreciated that some of them didn't. One of the main ideas about <i>Mockingjay</i> that I loved is the idea that no matter what side of the way you're on there's always going to be someone thirsty for power. President Coin is an extremist. She does whatever she thinks is necessary to keep herself in power. As the story unfolds, you really see how little she cares for Katniss...and how manipulative people in power can be. I know some readers disliked the ending, but I thought it was appropriate. It's the best future you could hope for for </div>

On a side note, I realized that never once was gender an issue in this book. Nobody complained about Katniss being a soldier because she was a woman or Prim training to be a doctor. It was refreshing.<br />
<br />
I enjoyed this series overall. It's the first teen series that I've actually finished since becoming an adult. I give this book and 4/5 stars as well as the entire series. It's definitely something I wouldn't mind my children reading.<br />
<br />
The trailer for Mockingjay Part 2 just came out. Looks MUCH better than the first part. Check it out if you haven't seen it yet!<br />

At work and on my way home I listen to an audiobook and at night I read a book. I totally love this. It's allowed me to absorb so much material and I'm surprised how easy it is for me to jump between two worlds. I started this for a few reasons. First, I need to start reading more YA novels. I'm in my last year of my master's and soon I'll be a school librarian. I need to know what the kids are reading. There's no way around it. Most of these books I don't want in my library and I don't want to take the time out of my regular reading schedule to read them so I've decided to try the audiobooks. Luckily, if you buy the kindle ebook the narration is MUCH cheaper than if you buy the actual audiobook. That shit is expensive!!! Secondly, the <i>A Song of Ice and Fire </i>series takes a long time to read and I'm impatient. Most of the books I read are huge and it's annoying, but it cannot be helped. I'm a sucker for epic fantasy and most of those books are 1000 pages. Anyways, I'm going to give this blog another try. I've missed it. I'm doing things differently this time around. I burned out before because it felt like a job. I already work full time and go to grad school - this is supposed to be fun! So I'm going to make it fun.<br />

<div>
<b>Rating: 4/ 5 Mockingjays</b></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This book was actually a lot of fun. I moderately liked the first installment. I read it a few years ago and just never felt the need to go on. But I saw the series on Kindle Unlimited and decided to give it another chance. I'm glad I did! It's hard for a sequel to live up to the first installment and I thought this one surpassed <i>The Hunger Games</i>. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I enjoyed the games a lot in this book. I thought the clock idea was pretty creative. It was a good combination of physical and psychological challenges (or should I say torture). I thought the supporting characters like Finnick, Johanna, and Beetee were well developed. I especially liked Betee. I was cheering for him the whole time. Of course, I still found Katniss and Peeta a little annoying. I enjoyed the other characters more than I enjoyed their little attempts at keeping one another alive. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This story feels deeper almost. You can feel the districts rebellion beginning to boil. The whispers Katniss hears about other districts helps this feeling. I wish we could have seen a little glimpse into the other districts, but it's not their story. I also would have enjoyed a little more interaction with President Snow. He's such a good villain! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
One of the main things I enjoy about this book is that there are casualties. This is a country at war and on the brink of rebellion. Collins doesn't sugar coat that for her younger audience. It's not graphic, but it still hits home knowing that nobody is safe. These characters will probably all be dead soon but that's the price of war . I like that about this series. I also like that even though Katniss loves both Peeta and Gale, she states that she isn't interested in children or really marriage. I think that is completely reasonable for her situation. I know I wouldn't want to bring a child into that awful world. She's not a romantic - sure she's very emotional, but you can't say she's romantic. There's no room for romance in Panem. There's only room for survival. I think that's what sets her apart from all the other female protagonists in other teen books. Go Katniss! Ain't nobody got time for babies during a rebellion. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Overall, I found this book to be a great addition to the series. The narration was wonderfully done and it's a fairly quick listen. Now I'm on to <i>Mockinjay</i>!</div>

<h3>
Make Up</h3>
<h3>
My two new OCC Lip Tars arrived in the mail today! </h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First up is "Narcissus". I didn't realize how pink this color would be! I like it and after it dries it doesn't look so barbie as you can see in the photo. I normally don't wear pinky lip colors because it doesn't mesh well with my olive skin tone. But this is nice and very moisturizing. A little bit goes a long way. I'm not sure if I'll wear this color that often though.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Next up is "Lydia". BEAUTIFUL color. I absolutely love it. It's moody and perfect for a night out. I'll have to add a liner thought because it did bleed a little though.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<center style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-weight: normal;">After reading and loving <i>Gone Girl</i> and <i>Sharp Objects</i>, I knew I had to pick up <i>Dark Places</i>. Flynn is great at writing dark characters and making her readers feel uncomfortable. <i>Dark Places</i> is the definition of uncomfortable. The murder plot is complicated and it takes the entire book to reveal the true murderer. As always, I enjoy Flynn's take on rural America. Unfortunately, I felt the pace dragged a lot in this book and I didn't feel as if I was dying to figured out who really murdered Libby's family. I just floated along with the story. I enjoyed the characters in this book. Everyone had a dark side and that is what I truly enjoy about Gillian Flynn's novels. The book revolves between Ben Day, Libby Day, and Patty Day's perspective which is fun, but sometimes it killed me when I was finally getting into the story and then the chapter would end and I'd have to wait two more chapters to continue what I thought was interesting. </span></center>
<center style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-weight: normal;"><br /></span></center>
<center style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-weight: normal;">Ultimately, this story has the dark plot, characters, and twists I expect from a Gillian Flynn novel, but it lacks the intensity and intrigue I wanted. The best way to describe my feelings about this book is "meh". I still enjoyed it, but I won't be rereading it any time soon. </span></center>

Silverthron (Riftwar Saga #3) by Ramond Feist</center>

<span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 18px;">Apprentice will always be my favorite Riftwar book, although I still have one more to read in this saga. However, this book still held my interest and was a fun read. I love these characters and the world Feist created. Just like the previous two books, the story is fairly simple, but I don't mind this because Feist is so great at what he does. I've said this before and I'll say it again, I LOVE the way Feist writes. He doesn't spend four pages about what someone is eating and I really do appreciate that in fantasy author. </span><br style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 18px;" /><br style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 18px;" /><span style="background-color: white; color: #181818; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 18px;">Okay, so on to the story. At first, I was a little disappointed that this book focused on Arutha instead of Pug and Tomas. They show up later in the story and Pug is a crucial part of it (yay!). But I'm glad this story focused on Arutha and his mates. Jimmy the Hand comes back and he is probably my favorite character besides Pug. He is slowly moving in to the #1 spot though. For most of the book, Arutha and his travelers are on a quest to save Princess Anita from dying. They must find the rare Silverthorn plant in order to save her. This leads them across Midkemia confronting new enemies. For about 3/4 of the book I was all in. I love Arutha and I enjoyed following him throughout Midkemia. We got to see new and familiar places and meet new people. Towards the end I was a little fatigued and ready for it to end, but the only major complaint I have is that there is still a lack of great female characters. Anita is just a major plot device and Queen Aglaranna basically just sits on her throne and has a baby. I hope in the next book this will change. I was very happy we got to see a new part of Kelewan and the ending with Pug made me want to jump right into the next book! Ultimately, Silverthorn is a great addition to the Riftwar Saga, but it still doesn't hold up to the first book. That's okay though, because the first book is one of my favorite fantasy novels of all time.</span></center>

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter #1)<br />
Author: J.K. Rowling<br />
<br />
Everyone remembers their first love. For me, reading was my first love and Harry Potter was the series to make me fall. I've read the series multiple times, but I haven't read the books since I was in high school. (I'm 24 now). I was afraid the books wouldn't hold up to my fond memories and that my now educated brain might see it as crap. After finishing the first book, I am glad to say that I still love it just the same. There are many reasons why the first book in the Harry Potter series is wonderful. This is a middle grades book. It is young, innocent just like its readers. I was about eight or nine when I first read this book. I remember being so wowed by the wizarding world J. K. Rowling created. Everything seemed so magical. It's also the first time we get to meet our heroes! And of course, you get to fall in love with Albus Dumbledore. There's just so much fun with this book. I do have a few negatives. I wish we would have been introduce to the Potters in the beginning. Just a little snippet into their life before they died. Also, I have always disliked Voldemort being hidden under Professor Quirrell's turban. It just sounded silly to me and not menacing at all. I also thought the trials to get to the sorcerer's stone were cool, but a little too easy. I mean, really? If three novice 11 year old wizards can solve your puzzles and enchantments then you're not trying hard enough. I'm just nitpicking though. I enjoyed that part of the book a lot. Lastly, I think Harry's conversation with Professor Quirrell in the end provides too many answers. It's like "well, I'm running out of ideas so let me just have the bad guy tell you everything!". </div>

<div align="left">
Not the best book in the series by far, but it is still a wonderful introduction to the world of Harry Potter. I love how innocent the first book of the series feels. It is something the series loses after Goblet of Fire (not that that is a bad thing!). So, if you're reading along with me, then let me know what you think! Does the first book still hold up for you? Let me know in the comments!</div>

Hey guys, here is this week's haul. Bought a lot of nostaligc anime. The more I watch Tenchi Muyo the more the feminist in me cringes. However, I can't help but love Ryoko and therefore this show will have a place in my heart...even if it is cringe worth at points. Anyways, on to the haul!</div>

I first read <em>Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone </em>when I was about 8 or 9 years old. I wasn't a big reader, but after reading this book I became a lifelong reader. It opened my eyes to a new genre of books: fantasy/adventure. I truly grew up with this series and I can say that it impacted my life in a big way. Now, I am pursuing my master's degree to become a Library Media Specialist. Harry Potter instilled a passion for reading in me at a young age. Therefore, I am choosing to reread the series again. I haven't read it in a while so it's about time anyways. If you're a Potterhead like me then read along! </div>

Holy cow, you guys. I can't believe what Feist has done with this series. I absolutely LOVED the first book and I was worried I wouldn't feel the same magic from the second book. However, I was wrong. Feist does an amazing job creating two completely different worlds feel so real and complex. There is one scene that stands out to me the most is when Pug (who goes by another name) travels up a tall tower and has visions of the past. I don't want to go into too much detail to avoid spoiling it, but Feist really painted a cosmic picture in my head and it is something I won't forget.<br />
<br /><br />
<br /></div>
<div align="left">
<br /></div>
<div align="left">
In the first book, Pug and Tomas are just boys who are charming and a fun group to follow. However, in this book they are no longer boys. We see these characters grow into powerful men. Honestly, I was very sad when this happened. They are both SO different from the first book. But that should be expected because of the emotional and physical turmoil they have to face. I mean, Pug becomes a slave for five years in a foreign land. If anything makes you lose your innocence it is probably that! Another part of this book that I really love is the political differences of Midkemia and Kelewan. Both see one another as barbaric. Add in the complex political structure of the Tsurani and you've got one hell of a stand off. It is fun to see each side's point of view. Basically, this book is great.<br />
<br /><br />
<br /></div>
<div align="left">
<br /></div>
<div align="left">
In summation, if you like epic fantasy with great characters, fun battles, and two very different worlds to explore then this is the series for you. It has been a LONG time since I've found a series that I can just DIVE in to and really get invested in the story. I will take a break from this series so I don't get burnt out, but I definitely have plans to finish this series.</div>

The Black Beast! Part Batman and part Bane, she leads a squad of female
agents through the Gotham Underground!<span style="letter-spacing: 0.03em;"> </span></blockquote>
</blockquote>
This is an emotional book for fans of Gail Simone's Batgirl. It is her last issue on Batgirl and it hurts a little. I started reading comics when the New 52 launched and Batgirl became my favorite character in the DCU. Gail Simone obviously loves Barbara Gordon and fans can read that in the way she writes her. Now that Gail Simone is leaving, I feel a little sad because the Batgirl I know and love is gone. I have high hopes for the new writers of Batgirl and I know the artist Babs Tarr will do great, but part of me isn't ready to move on. Anyways, on to the story!<br />
<br />
After a traumatizing event at her wedding, Barbara goes on a crime cleaning spree. One by one, she knocks out baddies like The Riddler and Oswald Cobblepot and has her sights set on the man who broke the bat: Bane. She infiltrates his camp and works her way up to being trained by Bane. When she returns to Gotham, she is no longer Batgirl. She is now Bete Noire - The Black Beast. She has gathered two previous Batgirls and one new addition! Stephanie Brown and Cassandra Cain are back in their suits with Lucius Fox's daughter Tiffany Fox. It is a cute idea and I wish we could have a League of Batgirls title! It was great seeing the previous batgirls back in action. Ultimately, Barbara has a final showdown with Bane and we get to say our final goodbye to this very much loved version of Batgirl. I think Gail Simone did a great job picking a story that was fun, filled with action, but also emotional. If you are a fan of Barbara Gordon as Batgirl then make sure you pick this issue up. A big thanks to Gail for writing such a wonderful character. Batgirl has brought me so much join since I have started reading comics. I have high hopes for the new direction, but your version of Batgirl will always be my first love. <br />

I'm so glad I picked it up. It is violent with great supernatural characters. It gives you a lot of information it the first issue so I'll probably read it again just to make sure I didn't miss anything. I was really impressed with the lead character Lucifer. She is fun and witty and I can't wait to see more of her. She has a destiny that she doesn't want so I'm interested in seeing how that evolves. I am a big fan of Tilda Swinton. I think she is a great actress and I will watch any movie she is in. I'm also a fan of Ezra Miller after seeing <b>Perks of Being a Wallflower</b>. I think he is an actor to watch. Anyways, I've wanted to see this movie since it came out a few years ago, but I just never got around it it. I've heard it is a haunting movie and I can't wait to see it!<br />

Magician: Apprentice (The Riftwar Saga #1)<br />
Author: Raymond Feist <br />

<blockquote class="tr_bq">

<br />
I will be honest. I almost gave up on this book. I was only a chapter or so in, but I was bored and I thought this would just be another boring fantasy story. However, I am SO glad I didn't stop. As soon as the aliens and rifts in space and time were introduced I was IN. I'm not sure what changed, but I was so invested in this story the whole time that I immediately started the second one after I finished Apprentice. I love Pug as a main character. He is brave, smart, and feels like a real person. The surrounding characters aren't as fleshed out, but they are still a good supporting cast. I love that Pug and his friend Tomas's adventures with the Duke across Midkemia to warn the King about the intruding aliens. It felt epic. We meet a dragon, Elves, Dwarves, and I can't forget the invaders the Tsurani. <br />
<br />
<br />
I feel like this novel shouldn't really stand out. It's a fairly typical epic fantasy story, but there is something special about it. The way Feist writes never feels verbose so the story keeps a good pace. It is descriptive, but I never felt like it was too much. The only real negative I have about this book is that the supporting female characters are pretty weak. I would like to see some interesting ladies and Carline is just not doing it for me. <br />
<br />
<br />
Over all, this is a fun classic fantasy story and I was surprised I liked it so much. I can't wait to continue the series and see what happens!<br />

<div style="border-image: none;">
I waited to see the premiere of <em>Doctor Who </em>on Monday because my local theater was showing it! I couldn't pass up seeing my favorite show on the big screen! Such a great experience. I wish I could see all the episodes that way. </div>
<div style="border-image: none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-image: none;">
The first episode for a new Doctor is always tricky. Most fans aren't ready to let go of the last one and feel this Doctor has to prove himself worthy of our love. At least, that is how I feel! Matt Smith's first episode won me over and I was hoping Capaldi's would too. At first, he was a little annoying. I thought his confused status was a bit off putting. However, once he and Clara met up at the restaurant I was happy with him. I think this incarnation of the Doctor will still have his silly moments, but he will definitely bring some darkness. And it is that darkness that I am really looking forward to! As for Clara, I actually really enjoy her with Capaldi. Clara has been my least favorite companion so far. I think Jenna is a serviceable actor, but I just haven't connected with Clara yet. Plus, I was so in love with The Ponds and River that, in my eyes, Clara could never take their place. I was very happy with her chemistry with Capaldi though, but honestly I am looking forward to her exit this year. </div>
<div style="border-image: none;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
Overall, I think Moffatt wrote a solid first episode for our new doctor. There was a lot of humor and great costumes. I always love when Madame Vastra, Jenny, and Strax are in an episode. They are a super fun trio. Also, do you think it is Madame Vastra who gave Clara the Doctor's phone number at the coffee shop? Or perhaps, it is that mysterious lady from the Promise Land at the end. That was <em>weird. </em>She freaks me out. What are your thoughts on this episode? Good, bad, unsure? Let me know! <br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;">This week my pull list was very Image friendly. I love Image. They're probably producing my favorite books at the moment and I am always looking for new books from them. I trust them to create good content (most of the time!). I have two Warren Ellis books too. I enjoy him as a writer and look forward to both of these books continuing! And finally, I'm getting back into Batwoman. It is one of the first series I started reading when I first got into comics. I just kind of left it behind, and not because it wasn't good. It was an okay book with GREAT art. I just never got around to adding it to my pull list. Well, I'm giving her another chance. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih6wfcHpmg1E17vJetE_BQ3fKiP9RfLMC5acTk23O5mK5eGo2k0mX5JBnk0uTqmm0WezoFFhiCUN8mY2Xc0RyrUoWGyoRyWnxJ2HDD6Ud0u4hbB1YzvJpghGegBKIYRbusjXlkc_7TqEXX/s1600/shehulk1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih6wfcHpmg1E17vJetE_BQ3fKiP9RfLMC5acTk23O5mK5eGo2k0mX5JBnk0uTqmm0WezoFFhiCUN8mY2Xc0RyrUoWGyoRyWnxJ2HDD6Ud0u4hbB1YzvJpghGegBKIYRbusjXlkc_7TqEXX/s1600/shehulk1.jpg" height="640" width="419" /></a></div>

<blockquote class="tr_bq">
JENNIFER WALTERS IS…THE SHE-HULK! A stalwart Avenger, valued member of
the FF, savior of the world on more than one occasion, she's also a
killer attorney with a pile of degrees and professional respect. A
7-foot-tall drink of cool, emerald water, she's tough enough to knock
out Galactus with one punch (possibly?) and has a heart bigger than the
moon. But juggling cases and kicking bad guy butt is starting to be a
little more complicated than she anticipated. With a new practice, a new
paralegal and a mounting number of super villains she's racking up as
personal enemies, She Hulk might have bitten off a little more than she
can chew…but she just calls that that Tuesday.</blockquote>
<br />
One day, I randomly saw She-Hulk #1 (which I have some how misplaced!) on the shelf at my local comic book store and I absolutely loved the cover. I don't read a lot of Marvel titles so I decided why not check this one out. After that day, I fell in love with She-Hulk aka Jennifer Walters! Her new series is so much fun. It's colorful and Jennifer is funny, cool, and sassy. This is a great comic for all ages. I read a lot of serious comic books so adding this to my pull list helped brighten it up a little. I love Charles Soule's writing and the art of Javier Pulido with the bright colors from Muntsa Vicente create a dynamic story that leaves me wanting more at the end of each issues. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigcaSndL0m45pWk8oRaSdxriTtxbgH3O_GsuHjisO4iTVm5Gjn-kjeMjiXUusY2uEqhsgfTrEHK6sToDMclIcJ8xL1VOSbi8lHW6jlLdzRaGyjedIzTe4CirxVtTBwzLmIcNEJzzVNgUWx/s1600/shehulk.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigcaSndL0m45pWk8oRaSdxriTtxbgH3O_GsuHjisO4iTVm5Gjn-kjeMjiXUusY2uEqhsgfTrEHK6sToDMclIcJ8xL1VOSbi8lHW6jlLdzRaGyjedIzTe4CirxVtTBwzLmIcNEJzzVNgUWx/s1600/shehulk.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
So, who is She-Hulk you ask? Well, her name is Jennifer Walters and she is a lawyer/super hero. She has fought with The Avengers and Fantastic Four. She's also Bruce Banner's cousin. You might now him as The Hulk. After being shot, Bruce had to give her a blood transfusion with his own gamma-radiated blood which turned her into the She-Hulk. Unlike Bruce, Jennifer can control when she becomes She-Hulk and from what I can see in the comics spends most of her time in that form. Also, unlike her cousin, her intelligence isn't affected when she is hulked out. As a side note, I love her friend Hellcat. They fight crime together and are total besties, but are also competitive. Hellcat doesn't have any superpowers and feels like she has to constantly remind Jennifer that she can still kick as much ass as she can! I know this sounds kind of silly, but it is just fun to see them save the day together. This book is so much fun, so if you read comics and are looking to add something to your pull list then PLEASE add She-Hulk! I want this title to be around for a long time, so please go out and support it. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
One day, my boyfriend comes home from work with a HUGE tub of comic books. His boss just gave us over 100 of his old comic books. And guess who was in the huge pile of comic books? That's right, my girl She-Hulk. His boss had about two years worth of She-Hulk comics (about 25 issues) from her run in the late 80's to mid 90's. You could say I was a little excited. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Will I love the She-Hulk from the late 80's as much as I love her current version? I doubt it (hoping that I am wrong). I think there is something really special about this book, but I will read the older issues and let you guys know my thoughts.<br />

Alright guys, I'm done. Just go out and buy the damn book. Thanks!<br />

<em>Outlander</em> is a television show on Starz based on the novel of the same name by Diana Gabaldon. It focuses on Claire Randall (<span dir="auto">Caitriona Balfe)</span> in 1945 as she is transported back in time to 1743 while on a second honeymoon with her husband Frank (Tobias Menzies) in Scotland. I own the book, but I haven't read it just yet so all my opinions will be on the television show itself. My first impression is that the show looks gorgeous. It is shot beautifully and the Scottish landscape is breathtaking. Unfortunately, that is all I have positive to say about the show as of right now. The first 30 minutes are very boring as we follow Claire and Frank reconnect in Scotland. I hope that the sex scenes get a little more steamy. Right now they are a bit of a snooze fest. I'm assuming the sex scenes w/ Jamie will be better. I did enjoy the pagan ceremony, that was quite beautiful. The show picks up once Claire goes back in time and meets Jamie Fraser (<span dir="auto">Sam Heughan)</span>. I am definitely a sucker for a man in a kilt and the actor playing Jamie is very easy on the eyes. Over all, I am not that invested in the show, but I will give it at least two more episodes to pick it up. After that, I might just choose to watch something else or even read the book.<br />

<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
After seeing <i>Guardians of the Galaxy</i>
for the second time, I hopped over to my local comic book store and
bought the first two issues of <i>Rocket Raccoon</i> by Skottie
Young. I have admitted over the years of being a DC junkie and I
haven’t really read much Marvel. It's not that I didn't want to.
I was just so focused on DC and also a lot of independent titles that
I just didn't have the money to add more books to my pull list.
Lately, I have slowly been adding more and more Marvel titles. After
reading and LOVING <i>She-Hulk</i> (review to come later), and then
loving <i>Guardians of the Galaxy</i> I thought my next Marvel book
should be <i>Rocket Raccoon</i>. I am <i>so </i><span style="font-style: normal;">happy
I picked up this book. Rocket is such a fun character and Skottie
Young writes him perfectly. Not to mention the art is just as fun as
the dialogue. </span>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-style: normal;">So,
Rocket is on a mission to save a Princess and does so successfully and
not without a little bravado. Later, we see him enjoying a night out
with a woman watching Groot in a wrestling match. All is going to
plan, until he and his date are put on the kiss cam and the
authorities are alerted to his presence. Turns out, Rocket is wanted
for murder! Rocket calls Star-Lord to find out what is going on.
Turns out someone who looks just like Rocket is out there murdering
people. It looks like Rocket may not be as alone as he thought. Add
in a handful of pissed off ex-girlfriends and you have the beginning
of a fun space adventure. Finding out there is another person like
Rocket out there made my heart melt a little because I went back to
that scene in the movie when he was drunk and upset about being alone. (Damn, you Marvel for making me care about a talking
raccoon!). So I am definitely interested to see what happens when
Rocket meets this mystery Raccoon. </span>
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<br />
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-style: normal;">Conclusion:
This book starts off with a bang of action and laughter. I'm happy I
picked this one up and will be adding it to my pull list. (You should
too!) </span>
