New Exciting Comics!

It's Wednesday and that means it's new comic book day! Unfortunately, payday is on Friday so I will have to wait to go to the store until then. Seriously, why can't payday be on Wednesday? Anyways, today I want to talk about some new comic book series I am super excited about.

Collider #1
Collider
Written by Simon Oliver
Art by Robbi Rodriguez
Cover by Nathan Fox
Vertigo Comics
First issue comes out TODAY!

It started small: temporary gravity failures, time reversal loops, entropy reversals. With much fanfare a new government agency was formed with a mandate "to prevent and protect." Its official title: The Federal Bureau of Physics. Humans, if nothing else, adapt to the changing parameters of their existence. what was extraordinary soon became ordinary, a part of people's daily lives. They move on and do what people have always done: survive. But even that new status quo is now under threat. Things are getting worse, and it falls to Special Agent Adam Hardy and his FBP team to figure out what's going on, before it's too late.
Oh, man. This is just my type of comic book. I am looking forward to whatever strangeness Agent Adam Hardy and his team stumble into. The first arc is about a bubbleverse (pocket universe) similar to our own universe that pops up and starts sucking people in. The agents have to go into the bubbleverse and rescue everyone before it collapses. Um, can you say intrigue?

Rat Queens

Image Comics
Issue #1 comes out Sept. 25th

This is a new high fantasy adventure comic and I can't wait until September. You have Hannah the Rockabilly Elven Mage, Violet the Hipster Dwarven Fighter, Dee the Atheist Human Cleric, and Betty the Hippy Hafling Thief. Do I even need to go on? This series looks funny and action packed. There is so much cosplay potential here. I really love the look of Dee and Hannah. I must learn to sew asap. Check out the comic's tumblr to see some funny webcomics. Here are a few of my favorites. Oh, and SAGA artist Fiona Staples has done a variant cover. Shut up and take my money!
 BADASS ALERT!

Harley Quinn
Written by Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Connor
Artist unannounced
DC comics

I am not shy about my love for Harley Quinn. I even cosplayed as her for my first DragonCon last year. Let's just say I didn't realize how popular of a character she was because there were hundreds of us! Which is cool because Harley is awesome. I will say that I was the only one with a drag queen Poison Ivy. At least, I didn't see any others. The Harley next to him is not me. Maybe one day I'll post a pic of me as HQ, but today is not that day. Anyways, doesn't he look gorgeous?!

Okay, back to what I was talking about. I have a few issues of her previous monthly series and it was pretty good. Apparently, many adventures in her new series will take place outside of Gotham. We all know Harley as the Joker's girlfriend, but I hope this series will allow her to grow even more. Some people like to romanticize her relationship with the Joker, but I always wanted her to get over him. That relationship is abusive and toxic. I would love to see Harley work out her boyfriend issues and become known for something other than being the Joker's cute girlfriend. I also love the new costume. I can totally see Harley being a derby girl.

Gail Simone (Birds of Prey, Batgirl and other glorious titles) will be writing a new monthly series titled Tomb Raider Comics for Dark Horse Comics. This is fantastic news. The comic continues after the ending of the most recent Tomb Raider game. We are going to see a much younger, less experienced Lara. I think this is going to be a big hit. Read the Kotaku interview with Gail Simone here.

So much to look forward to. I can't even handle the excitement. I just can't...
